Hydrogen Peroxide is an environment friendly chemical as it
decomposes to water & oxygen. It finds application mainly as
bleaching agent in Paper & Pulp, Textile & Sugar industries. It
is used as raw material in various organic, inorganic &
Pharmaceutical industries. It is also widely used for effluent
treatment and as cleaning agent in electronic industries.
GACL is operating two Hydrogen Peroxide plants, one at Baroda
& another at Dahej. Total production capacity of these two
plants is 25, 080 MTA. The dedication ceremony of Hydrogen
Peroxide Plant at Dahej was performed by Honorable Chief
Minister on 18th April 2008. Now GACL has taken up expansion
project of Hydrogen Peroxide plant at Dahej complex to increase
the production capacity by 14000 MTA. Thus the total production
capacity after expansion will be 39,080 MTA.
Technical know-how and basic engineering for the project is
tied up with Chematur Engineering AB, Sweden. Detailed
engineering will be carried out by IBI Chematur, Mumbai, India.

June 2007. Chematur Engineering has sold its SCWO business area.
Chematur Engineering Group has sold their SuperCritical Water technology to an Irish Entrepreneur, John O’Regan. The acquisition initially covers all patents for Supercritical Water held by the Chematur Engineering Group together with associated intellectual property and two demonstration
AquaCritox® (the registered brand name) Supercritical water oxidation plants rated at 225 kg and 1,100 kg per hour. The Chematur Engineering Group will continue to support the new company, and will supply resources to get the prefabricated plant into a customer’s location as soon as possible.
Mr O’Regan believes that the technology has been developed by Chematur to the point where it is now ready for commercialisation. Per Simonsson (Chematur Engineering Group
CEO) said “The Chematur Engineering Group is looking to focus on and develop its core business activities. We will continue to support Mr. O’Regan to ensure that the Supercritical technology can become a commercial success.”
The Supercritical water oxidation technology is particularly suited for the total destruction of wet wastes such as Sewage Sludge, Industrial and Food wastes as it is the most environmentally friendly technology available and allows for efficient energy recovery.
To date, Chematur Engineering Group have supplied the world’s largest Supercritical Water Oxidation plant to Johnston Matthey UK.
